Community Involvement

Long Lines is the local communications provider in many communities. We have employees who live there. We try to be part of activities and offer our support and expertise where we can. We enjoy participating in the many events throughout the area. Because our business footprint is very large we can't be at everything, but here are a few of the things we have participated in.

 

Dakota Supply Group Grand Opening

Congratulations to Dakota Supply Group on the grand opening of their new location at 2727 Cornhusker Dr in South Sioux City, NE!

Dakota Supply Group was founded in 1898 and has been dedicated to providing all the right connections to customers in the electrical; plumbing; HVAC; refrigeration; communications; utility; automation; waterworks; on-site sewer, water and well; filtration and metering technology industries. They also carry more than 65,000 products from the top brands. However, what they are most proud of is their employee owners.

Long Lines Project

As part of our recent employee event, Long Lines employees held a toiletry drive for West Central Community Action. Brandy McCarthy, Customer Care Rep - Onawa, and Karla Collison, Network Engineer, were on hand to deliver the items to Amy Johnston, site coordinator in Onawa.

West Central Community Action has been serving counties in Southwest Iowa for over 55 years through a variety of self-sufficiency programs. In partnership with state and federal government, we serve residents through our Outreach Centers and Head Start Centers in the 10-county region of Cass, Crawford, Fremont, Harrison, Mills, Monona, Montgomery, Page, Pottawattamie, and Shelby.

 

Onawa bank gets new manager

Long Lines gives a warm welcome to Janelle Selig, the new Banking Manager for Great Southern Bank in Onawa, Iowa.

Great Southern Bank started back in 1923 and has now grown to 100 offices in thirteen states with 91 retail banking centers in Missouri, Arkansas, Kansas, Iowa, Nebraska, and Minnesota, eight commercial lending offices in Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, Denver, Omaha, Phoenix, Tulsa, Charlotte, and one home loan center in Springfield, Mo.

Long Lines Honored in Harrison County

Long Lines was proud to be honored at the 56th Annual Meeting of the Harrison County Development Corporation for our commitment to growth and economic development in Harrison County, Iowa.

Executive Director Renea Anderson recognized Jay Randall of Community Bank with the Lifetime Achievement Award for his support of HCDC and specifically called out Jay's extensive knowledge of TIF financing.

The theme of the meeting "Harrison County Tourism in Your Own Backyard" was reinforced by a presentation by Iowa Economic Development Authority State Tourism Director Amy Zeigler and Tourism Liaison Stephanie Neppl, who shared that there were 39.5 million visitors to Iowa in 2022 who spent $6.7B during their visits.

Long Lines Employees volunteer in Storm Lake

Sean Pulatie, Account Executive, and Ahsaki Khaoorn, Customer Care Rep, volunteered with the Storm Lake Kiwanis Mobile Food Pantry yesterday during their food distribution program. Over 360 boxes were distributed to needy families in the Storm Lake area.

Long Lines is proud to support community organizations like the Kiwanis Club of Storm Lake Beavers.

Siouxland Catholic Radio

The spring weather was one wonderful reason to attend the Chamber Coffee hosted by Siouxland Catholic Radio.

Siouxland Catholic Radio first went on the air back in 2008 and was founded by Father Harold Cooper. Siouxland Catholic Radio's broadcast schedule includes popular national programs like EWTN's Catholic Answers LIVE which responds to questions from Catholics and non Catholics alike.

Bitter Sweet Floral

There's no better way to brighten someone's day than with flowers! Long Lines was able to experience the newest floral shop BitterSweet Floral Inc. at Friday's South Sioux City Area Chamber of Commerce & Tourism Chamber Coffee.

Owner Mandy Rogers opened her shop located at 2114 Dakota Ave on February 1, 2023, and offers wide variety of fresh flowers, indoor houseplants, outdoor plants, European dish gardens, traditional and contemporary flower arrangements, funeral and sympathy flowers, wedding bouquets and centerpieces, gift baskets and more! They also offer local flower delivery in South Sioux City, Dakota City, and Homer, NE and the surrounding areas.

Missouri Valley Chamber

Long Lines enjoyed attending the Missouri Valley Chamber of Commerce after hours hosted by American National Bank of Missouri Valley.

American National Bank has been around for 165 years with branches in 37 communities throughout Iowa, Nebraska, and Minnesota. Their dedicated staff, led by branch manager Angela Barry, has put tremendous emphasis on "doing more" for their community.

Aster and Rose Ribbon Cutting

Long Lines loves when dreams become reality! We were on hand for today's Onawa Chamber of Commerce ribbon cutting at aster & rose. Owners Sadie Poole and Savannah Ewing provide beautiful flower arrangements and home and beauty goods from local vendors like Divine Oil Co. by Arielle Kuchel. Stop into their location at 1011 10th St. in Onawa and indulge in things that truly bring joy.

 

LuLu Fiber Arts Ribbon Cutting

Long Lines was proud to be on hand to celebrate the ribbon cutting at Growing Up Lulu Fiber Arts in Sergeant Bluff. This amazing store, named after owner Amber Hobb's daughter Alaina "Lulu", started from an Etsy shop and "grew" into a full-service yarn, macrame, and needle craft store. They feature yarn, needlework, and macrame supplies, and you can even try your hand at a new hobby in one of their classes.

Onawa Chamber Coffee

Long Lines had a wonderful time hosting guests at our Chamber Coffee this morning at Downtown Coffee & Cream in Onawa. Shawna Chapman and her team provided some amazing muffins, cookies, and coffee! Long Lines rates it a 10/10....highly recommend. And congratulations are in order for the winners of the gift card drawing: Rob Meyer of BankFirst and Kathryn Keane of Pleasant View Care Center!

Downtown Coffee & Cream has been part of the Onawa downtown area since 2021 and not only serves your favorite coffee drinks, smoothies, and pastries, but also has a great selection of ice cream as well. As the sign says, "Every great day starts with coffee and ends with ice cream." We couldn't agree more!

Long Lines attended this morning's South Sioux City Area Chamber of Commerce & Tourism coffee at the Norm Waitt Sr. YMCA.

While the YMCA is known for providing fitness and wellness programming for people throughout the Siouxland area, they are also providing critical programs such as their preschool program and new childcare program. For almost 139 years, the YMCA has focused on well being through Youth Development, Healthy Living, and Social Responsibility.

South Sioux City Public Library

Public libraries are critical to our local communities. Long Lines enjoyed spending time at the South Sioux City Public Library for today's South Sioux City Area Chamber of Commerce & Tourismchamber coffee.

The South Sioux City Public Library started in 1919 and moved to its current location in 2004. Along with its collection of books, the library provides 18 computers for patron use, as well as educational, informational, and entertaining programs for children and adults. Did you know that the library also offers home delivery to individuals who are library patrons, homebound, and not able to physically come to the library? They also opened their Makerspace in 2022.

Rise and Grind Coffee

Long Lines loves small business! It was a treat to attend last night's Chamber After Hours at Rise and Grind Coffee in Missouri Valley. Located at 401 E Erie, they are the perfect gathering spot for your favorite coffee or iced beverage, as well as tasty baked treats and fun merchandise.

Jefferson, SD FTTH Meeting

Long Lines held customer sign up events on Wednesday, January 18 and 25, 2023, at the Jefferson, SD, community center for residents in Phase 2 of the Jefferson FTTH project. Long Lines was awarded a $1.04M ConnectSD grant to bring fiber to the home to residents in areas west and north of North Sioux City and south of Elk Point.

 

Williams and Company

Long Lines was on hand on Friday, January 20, to welcome Chad Regnier, the new manager for Williams & Company P.C. Onawa office. Chad started at the firm's Yankton office before spending 10 years in their LeMars location.

Williams & Company was recently recognized for being included in the 2018 Top 400 Firms by Inside Public Accounting.
